NC Native Plant Society Concept Redesign

About

For the love of North Carolina's wild plants

We are gardeners, hikers, scientists, and neighbors who believe native plants are worth knowing, growing, and protecting — for their own sake and for the web of life they support.

Our mission

Native plants, thriving across the state

The North Carolina Native Plant Society promotes the enjoyment and conservation of North Carolina's native plants and their habitats. We do that through education, advocacy, and the simple joy of getting outside together.

From a child's first wildflower walk to a botanist's lifelong study, every member helps keep our state's remarkable plant diversity alive for the generations to come.

  • Conservation

We protect rare plants and their habitats — from longleaf savannas to mountain bogs — through stewardship, advocacy, and plant rescues.

  • Education

Walks, workshops, talks, and our quarterly journal help people of every age learn to know and grow North Carolina’s native flora.

  • Community

Eleven local chapters turn shared curiosity into friendships, demonstration gardens, and hands-on conservation across the state.

Our story

Rooted, and still growing

  1. Our founding

A handful of botanists and gardeners come together to study and protect native plants.

  2. Growing statewide

Local chapters take root from the mountains to the coast, each rooted in its own landscape.

  3. Investing in the future

Grant and scholarship programs begin funding school gardens and student research.

  4. Today

Eleven chapters, a statewide journal, and a growing community of native plant advocates.
