Uwharrie Chapter

This chapter explores the worn-down Uwharries, among the oldest mountains in North America.

The Uwharries are ancient hills, eroded to gentle ridges that shelter unusual soils and plants. Our trips visit the national forest and its glades, and we work to keep these little-known habitats on people’s maps.
